It’s not the best beach for swimming—the riptides are notorious in this coastal stretch of Ghana—Labadi is where Ghanaians, expats and travelers come to enjoy an eclectic oceanside people-watching scene. Informal performers ply their trade here and it won't be long before you encounter an acrobatic dance show or an a cappella singing ensemble. Vendors walk up and down the beach selling snacks and refreshments along with sunglasses and beachwear. On Wednesday nights, DJs spin reggae tracks to a sizable crowd that takes to dancing in the sand. Labadi also benefits from a comfortable ocean breeze and while you may have been sweating in the nearby neighborhood of Osu, you will find yourself cooling off here alongside the water.
