More than 200 animals representing 83 species call Zoo Boise home. It began in 1916, and by WWII the Zoo had grown to display 40 different species of animals. Now it’s one of the most popular spots in Southern Idaho, attracting more than 365,000 people annually. Some of the animals include wallabies, African crowned cranes, llamas, African lions, tragopan, snow leopards and Komodo dragon. If you’re feeling brave, get nose-to-nose with a giraffe spring through fall at the Perkins Cole Giraffe Encounters.
