Indianapolis is a family-friendly city known for its sporting events and cultural districts.

Indianapolis International Airport:
Indianapolis’ airport code is IND, and it is located 7 miles from downtown Indianapolis. Rental cars are available at the airport as are shuttle services. Additional transportation options: IndyGo Green Line Downtown/Airport Express route: 15 minutes, $7; IndyGo’s bus route 8: 45 minutes, $1.75; Taxi: 15 minutes, $15 minimum.

Getting Around Indianapolis:
More than 200 restaurants and 50 attractions are within walking distance of downtown Indianapolis. Be sure to pack comfortable walking shoes to explore the city’s six cultural districts, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and other historic sites. Renting a car is a good option if you plan to visit attractions outside the downtown area. Bus options are available through IndyGo.

Geography and Climate:
Indianapolis has a population of 800,000 and an area of 396 square miles. Indy has four true seasons, with summer temperatures hovering between 70 and 90 degrees and winters of 20 to 40 degrees. Fall and spring are typically between 50 and 70 degrees. Indianapolis is located in the Eastern Time zone.
