Get ready for some sun and sand; Cocoa Beach has plenty of both.

Although Orlando is landlocked, it takes less than an hour to reach the Atlantic Ocean. So pack up the sunscreen and beach blankets, and head over to Cocoa Beach for the day.

Cocoa Beach offers entertainment for the whole family. Of course, there’s the beautiful beaches, fit for sunbathing, frolicking and surfing. There’s also golf courses, luxury cruise ships, wonderful restaurants and more.

If you’re lucky, witness a rocket launch into outer space at the Kennedy Space Center Visitors Complex. Walk around in a vintage space craft, man the controls on a replica space shuttle, and see an IMAX movie about space exploration.

Hit a round of golf at one of numerous parks in the Cocoa Beach Area, including the Cocoa Beach Country Club. Visit golfcocoabeach.com for a more information on the course.

Take an eco-adventure, and explore Florida’s diverse nature and wildlife. Tours vary in what they offer, but there are paddleboat tours, lagoon tours, airboat tours, kayak tours and more.

And of course, there are the beaches. The Cocoa Beach area boasts several attractive beaches, including Alan Shepard Park. Although beaches are open 24 hours a day, lifeguards are on duty only during the day. Conditions are perfect for surfing, sunning, sandcastles and more, and the average daytime temperature of the water is 73 degrees.
