The downtown Pittsburgh area boasts more than 20,000 parking spaces and is very pedestrian friendly, so parking and walking around is feasible. Pittsburgh’s public transportation, Port Authority, is another option, offering lines within the city limits and express routes to suburbs. Port Authority also offers a light rail system branching from downtown to the southern suburbs. All public transportation options are free in the downtown zone from 4 a.m.-7 p.m. For those renting a car to further explore the city and suburbs, be prepared for tolls on major roadways.
