Located down the street from the Widmer Brothers Brewery, the Gasthaus pub has a core lineup of eight Widmer ales in addition to a changing lineup of guest brews. Both the lunch and dinner menus offer an eclectic selection of pub fare and traditional Bavarian entrees. The brewery gives free tours on Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturdays at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Advanced reservations are required.

Located in the basement of the Leftbank building, Upright Brewing specializes in farmhouse-inspired beers rooted in France and Belgium. The four year-round beers offered are named after their starting gravity in Belgian brewing degrees. On most Sundays, live 1920s and 1930s style blues are performed. In addition to the normal tasting room hours, Upright Brewing is open between 6 p.m. and tip-off for all evening home Trailblazer games.

An underlying theme with Portland residents and businesses is their dedication to the environment through sustainable practices. Roots Organic Brewing could very much be a poster child for this belief, as Craig Nicholls was the first brewer in Oregon to make organic brews on a commercial level. Always on tap are five organic ales, including the burghead heather ale that is brewed without hops, but with organic heather tips, organic honey and organic malts.

Rogue Ales, one of the most prominent brews to come out of Oregon, has a 38 multi-tap system at its Pearl District Distillery and Public House. The food is upscale pub fare such as Kobe beef burgers and hot dogs, Kobe tacos, Rogue smoked salmon and chipotle chicken pasta. With more than 25 award-winning ales, Rogue has something for everyone. Distillery tours are offered at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Owner of the Raccoon Lodge and Cascade Brewing Company, Art Larrance, co-founded one of the states first microbreweries as well as the Oregon Brewers Festival. Ron Gansberg, Cascades Brew Master, is known as one of the most innovative brewers in the region and according to the Cascade Brewing Company has helped "develop a line of ultra-premium, oak barrel-aged, lactic-fermented Northwest style beers that range from lambic-style fruit beers to red ales". Raccoon Lodge is a family friendly restaurant that offers home brewed root beer for the non-alcohol-drinkers and munchkins.

Old Market Pub and Brewery is a great spot to grab a handcrafted brew and watch sports or participate in a leisurely game of shuffleboard. Old Market Brewery offers more than 10 ales as well as seasonal brews. A wide variety of pub fare is available, including the bestselling half-pound halibut fish and chips, which goes great with Mr. Toad's Wild Red Ale.

The Hillsdale Brewery & Public House is considered one of the pioneering brewpubs in Oregon. In 1985, the first beer was crafted at the Hillsdale Brewery location, and the original brew sheet for that beer is framed on the wall near the entrance. That year, McMenamin's was also the first brewery in the United States to legally use fruit in its ruby ale.

MacTarnahan's Taproom boasts more than 12 beers on tap and includes year round, seasonal and alehouse-exclusive styles. According to the brewery, MacTarnahan's amber ale is a "deep copper-hued amber ale balanced with fresh Cascade hops from the great Northwest District.” Mac's amber ale won a gold medal in the classic English style pale ale category at the Great American Beer Festival in 2009

With four locations around Portland, Lucky Labrador always has at least eight Lucky Lab ales on tap. The lucky Lab features cask conditioned ale from the beer engine and a nitro tap that provides a finer carbonation that results in a creamier consistency with an overall better flavor. Hopworks Urban Brewery is an eco-brewpub that pours only organic, handcrafted beers. There are four different areas where patrons can enjoy organic beer and food: a family restaurant with a play area, a unique bicycle bar, a banquet mezzanine and an outdoor beer garden. In an effort to help the city of Portland convince Google to build an innovative gigabit fiber network, the HUB has added the Gigabit IPA to their arsenal of brews.

Located in the Pearl District, this Scottish-designed pub with distinct Northwest style opened in May 2008. Deschutes sports 18 taps of their award winning, year round brews as well as their seasonal and experimental beers. Executive chef Jeff Usinowicz adds his own twist to pub cuisine by creating all menu items from scratch using local ingredients.

Established in 1984, Bridgeport Brewery is Oregon's oldest craft brewery. Popular Bridgeport ales include the Award winning India Pale Ale and the Blue Heron Pale Ale, which is named after Portland's city bird. In addition to the great selection of ales, the Bridgeport Brewpub also has pub fare such as salads, sandwiches and pizza.

The city of Chicago specializes in deep dish pizza. Memphis knows barbecue. And when it comes to beer, Portland, Oregon, has claimed it as its own.
