Born in Minnesota and raised in Texas, this celebrated Bay Area thespian got a taste for theater at a young age when she saw her sister in a play.
Augesen went on to get a master’s at Yale School of Drama before becoming a resident performer at San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theater in 2001.
Augesen is known for her dynamic character interpretations, which have earned her national acclaim as well as two San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards.
The gifted actor has played everyone from Masha in Chekhov’s The Three Sisters to Ruth in Pinter’s The Homecoming and can currently be seen in Sophocles’ Elektra, running at A.C.T. through November 18.
“I never have the same day twice,” Augesen says of her career. “I live imaginatively and get to play for a living.”
